The Superior colliculus is a brainstem structure associated with the upper motor system and involved with movement.

The superior colliculus sends axons to the medial zones of the cervical regions of the spinal cord, and is involved in movement of the head and generation of head and eye movements. Its axonal bundles are the culliculospinal tract, and when they reach the appropriate primary localized spinal segment, diverge to innvervate lower motor neurons in the medial axis of the spinal cord - on both sides of the spinal cord, and these axon bundles fan out to innervate multiple spinal segments.
